What is something that is always with you?
“Imagine this. You are in the metro station doing the random things you do there, and you hear a sound. It could be anything. A sound of a coin, someone’s shoes, or a random alarm.
A simple beep is enough to get me started.
I register the sound and repeat it in my head until I find a rythem for it.
Sometimes the rythem comes right away, other times I need more focus.
It is so natural and I can’t fight it.
This is how we made most of the songs. They all started from a random sound and then turned into songs…”
Gerardo told me this story last night. A beautiful way of explaining something that is always with you.
Like an instinct.
Your soul and mind are aligned.
A talent or a skill you are so natural at.
What do you do after you find a rhythm? I asked him.
I take my phone, and I record the notes out loud. It doesn’t matter where I am, how noisy it is, or who is around me. I must let it out at that second, or I will lose it.
Then I send it to my band.
We have a Whatsapp group where we constantly send voice messages of rhythms and sounds…
